Dr. Phillip Hash, President and CEO for PocketScience LLC is a combined physician and technology expert with over 15 years of experience in the software industry as a human factors engineer and software interface researcher. In addition, he has served as a research program manager at the Air Force Research Laboratory while an officer in the Air Force. He has led projects across several platforms including PDAs, unmanned air vehicles, virtual environments, and desktop systems.
Dr. Hash completed his undergraduate degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology and his Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from the University of Central Florida. He completed his medical degree from the Pikeville College School of Osteopathic medicine and is training to be a psychiatrist.
His research interests include human factors issues surrounding human-computer interaction including the psychophysiological impact of high-density information displays, effects of virtual reality exposure, and medical applications of emerging technologies such as virtual reality psychotherapy. Dr. Hash currently lives in the metropolitan Detroit area. |
 Phil Herold, Vice President and Chief Technology Officer
for PocketScience LLC has over 26 years in software development, as a
developer, architect, and software development manager.
He has worked on systems ranging from IBM mainframes to PDAs.
He specializes in application and user interface design and development and is
considered one of the premier Java Swing experts in the industry. His
articles have been published by Java Developer's Journal and Dr. Dobb's Journal.
Mr. Herold has a B.S. Degree in Mathematical Sciences from the University of
North Carolina in Chapel Hill.
He resides in Apex, NC with his wife and two children. |
 Dr. Daniel Meece is a Medical Consultant for PocketScience, and
practices Internal Medicine in north-central Kentucky, approximately 45
minutes from Louisville. Prior to attending medical school, he was employed
at IBM. He completed medical school at the University of Kentucky and his
residency at the University of South Alabama in Mobile.
His distinguished
career includes an appointment at Kennedy Space Center in Florida,
where he was an
integral part of medical services
within
NASA. Dr. Meece’s outstanding breadth and depth of experience have
further enhanced PocketScience’s service and product offerings
that seamlessly bring together technological innovation with keen medical
acumen. |
 PocketScience's Director of Medical Services, Dr. Peter
Sim, was born in New York State, and attended high school in Pennsylvania.
He earned a BA in Biology
from
Carleton
College
(1969) and his MD degree
from the University of Virginia (1973), and then completed a three-year
Family Practice Residency at Riverside Hospital, Newport News, VA. He became
board-certified in Family Practice in 1976. The young specialty of Emergency
Medicine became his focus in 1977, and he practiced full-time EM from 1977
until 2004, becoming certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine
in 1982 (with recertification’s in 1992 and 2002). During a sabbatical
in 2004 he discovered Victory Junction Gang Camp (in Randleman, NC), a
member of the Association of Hole in the Wall Camps. After volunteering
numerous times at Victory Junction (www.victoryjunction.org), he became
the full-time Medical Director in April, 2005. A lifelong distance runner,
Dr. Sim has competed in many marathons, including four Boston Marathons.
He is married to Anna, a specialist in the appraisal of fine and decorative
arts, and a four-time finisher of the Ironman Triathlon World Championships
in Hawaii. |
